Player of the year Glenn Morrison is already in talks about extending his stay at the Bulls.

The Australian's contract doesn't run out until the end of next season but following his fantastic first campaign, negotiations have quickly opened with the club's inspirational vice-captain.

After joining from Parramatta Eels on a two-year deal, second-row Morrison immediately endeared himself to the Bulls faithful with some scintillating all-action displays.

The tough-tackling operator brought a new dimension to Steve McNamara's side last season, cleaning up at the Bulls' player of the year awards and deservedly winning a spot in the 2007 Super League Dream Team.

"It was a great year for me and I want to try and back that up now," he said.

"There's no use having a good season if you don't do that and it's the hardest part.

"I'm still looking at improving myself and there's some more in me.

"Hopefully I can have a better year again and as a team we can go further too.

"Whatever happens, I want to stay at Bradford and would like to have another year here at least.

"I think my manager's had a couple of chats with the club already and if they want me to extend the contract I'd love to."

Morrison - recovering well from his off-season shoulder surgery - will be 32 by the time his present deal expires.

However, the workaholic forward, who regularly tops 40 tackles a match and notched 11 tries last season, is one of the fittest players around.

A model professional and genuine leader, Morrison should be able to continue for a few years yet but admits if the Bulls opt against giving him another deal he may head into coaching.

"I've got all my certificates and I always coached junior clubs back home," he said.

"If Bradford aren't sure if they want me to have another year I'd think about that option.

"We're just looking at the moment.

"There's a lot to be thinking about but number one for me at the moment is just preparing for this season coming up.

"I've got to make sure I come back from the shoulder injury, get that sorted right and follow up on last year.

"The competition for places here has increased and it's making everyone work harder, which is only good.

"Pre-season training is going well and we all want to lift our game to get on top this time around."

Morrison is one of a number of big-name Bulls players coming off contract at the end of 2008. Others include Shontayne Hape, Iestyn Harris and skipper Paul Deacon.
