PARK Avenue could be on the move to Odsal.
The Telegraph & Argus understands that the National League North side are in discussions with the Bradford Bulls over the possibility of staging home games at the rugby league stadium.
It is thought that negotiations with the two clubs have reached an advanced stage, although no decision has yet been made.
But if they do come to an agreement, Avenue could be playing first-team football at Odsal as early as next season.
Avenue’s major benefactor Gareth Roberts is already in talks with the club’s Community Benefit Society to take back control of the club and move their academy from Southfield Grange Trust to a newly-developed Horsfall Stadium in the autumn.
Students at the Horsfall College of Sports, as it will be known, could form part of the club’s new reserve structure.
If the Odsal deal is struck, Avenue would host senior games at the home of the Bulls while the reserves would be based at Horsfall where they would play on a newly-laid artificial surface. That would also make it suitable for community use.
By retaining their interest at Horsfall, Avenue would also have a potential fall-back option should the proposed move to Odsal not work out as they hope.
Avenue consider that a possible switch to a much larger venue could encourage bigger crowds, particularly with the visit of the best-supported clubs in the Conference North such as Stockport and York. They could also tap into any Bulls fans keen to watch football as well.
For the Bulls, it would mean multi-use for a stadium that currently stages a limited number of rugby home games over the year.
