Jinxed Iestyn Harris is out of the Bulls' clash against Wakefield following a fresh hamstring scare.

The stand-off misses Sunday's game after suffering a second successive injury to the same muscle.

He had only just returned from a six-week lay-off following the original strain but there are now fears he could be facing another lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Harris played against Salford a fortnight ago but felt severe discomfort after the loss against St Helens last Saturday and has not trained fully all week.

The former Great Britain international had a scan on Thursday to asses the damage and it was discovered bleeding in the hamstring is causing further problems.

"Iestyn is definitely out on Sunday," conceded boss Steve McNamara.

"It's a new type of injury to the same hamstring as before.

"It's only a small tear but it's bled and there's fluid in there as well creating a sizeable lump.

"We're not sure how long he'll be out yet; he could possibly be just this week but we won't know until it's all settled down."

Harris, 31, will undergo aggressive rehab in a bid to get him on track but the club are wary of rushing him back in fear of exacerbating the problem and he will have another scan next week to monitor progress.

The Bulls have been without genuine half-back cover all season and McNamara is again left deciding whether to play either one of his back-rowers - Glenn Morrison or David Solomona - or hooker Ian Henderson in the pivotal No 6 role.

Young stand-off Richie Hawkyard is also in the 20-man squad but the part-timer is not due to make the match-day 18.

Although not at his best in the two games since his comeback, Harris is undoubtedly massively influential to the Bulls' cause as they strive towards a potential Old Trafford appearance and any further absence could make their task all the more difficult.

McNamara's pack is bolstered though by the return of long-term absentees Matt Cook and Chris Feather, who could come straight in for Sunday's game.

However, fifth-placed Wakefield are high in confidence and have former Bulls Brett Ferres and Adam Watene making their first returns to Grattan Stadium.

"They are the form team, have plenty of ex-Bradford players in their ranks and they came here last season and won," said McNamara.

"They won't just be looking to stay in the top five but will have one eye on catching us as well.

"Wakefield are a very dangerous team."
