BULLS star and aspiring coach Kurt Haggerty is hoping his Pilkington Recs side land a plum tie in tonight's Challenge Cup third-round draw.
The Conference Premier Division side battered Cumbrian outfit Millom on Saturday in a 46-12 win at Devonshire Road.
The St Helens amateurs cut their hosts to ribbons to rattle up 22 unanswered points inside the first 14 minutes.
Haggerty is head coach of Recs but missed the Millom victory due to his own playing commitments as the Bulls destroyed Whitehaven 46-10 on the west Cumbrian coast.
The second-rower said: “I was going to see if I could go to Millom and then head straight to Whitehaven to play, but my assistant took charge of Saturday's game.
“We have a very good side and they don’t even need me at times.
“A couple of years ago we made it to the third round of the Challenge Cup and played North Wales Crusaders.
“We did respectably against a semi-professional side so it would be nice to get another big tie.
“Going into full-time coaching is something I’d love to do.
“I’ve been coaching Recs for a while and it’s a real passion of mine, so I’d love to coach at a good level if I could further down the line.”
Right now, however, Haggerty is enjoying playing and he has adapted to life at Odsal seamlessly following his close-season arrival from promotion rivals Leigh.
The St Helens academy product added: “When I came to Bradford, my aim was to get into the starting line-up and luckily Jimmy has put me in straight away.
“I’ve kept my spot for the first two games and, while I will play anywhere in the team, my aim is to keep hold of my starting berth and keep working hard for the side.
“I can play left or right second row and in the middle if Jimmy needs me there if we are ever short.
“My first game was Leeds in the friendly and I got some good reports back of some of the players afterwards.
“I made a couple of mistakes but that was more to do with rustiness and Jimmy was pleased with how I went.
“I’ve since got a couple more games under my belt and I hope the lads are enjoying what I’m bringing to the team.”
The son of former St Helens player Roy Haggerty reckons he was right to swap Leigh for Bradford during the winter.
“Both sides play completely differently but Bradford have a lot more players who have been in Super League,” said the 27-year-old.
“I have a different role here than I did at Leigh but it seems to be suiting me a little bit better.
“They are two very good sides who will both be pushing for top spot and I just hope we get there before them.”
