Steve McNamara has escaped punishment over his controversial comments regarding referee Steve Ganson's handling of the Bulls' defeat against Leeds.

The furious Odsal boss had claimed Bradford were "cheated" out of the Millennium Magic contest after the official had made a series of costly mistakes.

McNamara was expected to be charged with bringing the game into disrepute. However, after Ganson admitted he had made a mistake in awarding Jordan Tansey's last-second winning try, the RFL have debated the issue and decided the Bulls chief will not face disciplinary action.

"Due to a unique set of circumstances, we are not planning to take action regarding Steve McNamara's after-match comments," confirmed RFL communications director Craig Spence.

Meanwhile, Bulls hooker Terry Newton will face a disciplinary hearing charged with a reckless or careless high tackle on Leeds forward Jamie Thackray.

The video review panel decided this morning that the Great Britain ace has a case to answer following the incident that was put on report by Ganson in the first half of Sunday's top-of-the-table showdown.
