ADRIAN Purtell insists the Bulls will not take Workington lightly this weekend after learning some harsh lessons from their previous trip to Cumbria.
Jimmy Lowes' men claimed a 32-16 win at Whitehaven last month but only after being given a huge fright by the part-time hosts.
It needed three tries in the last 15 minutes to finally see off the Cumbrians and Purtell is refusing to write off Workington.
The Australian centre, who dug the Bulls out of a hole with a brace against Dewsbury last weekend, said: "Hopefully we will have learned from our mistakes the last time we went up there.
"We know that it's going to be a tough trip with all the travel up there on the day and it's a hard place to go.
"But we just need to bounce back and I think we owe it to ourselves to put in a good performance after the way we played against Dewsbury.
"We weren't up to scratch last week, compared to where we had been the previous couple of games."
Purtell's clinical double against the Rams was the fourth time this season he had scored two or more tries in a game. It took his tally for the campaign to 12, bettering the 11 he finished with last season.
"Last year was my best season since coming over here and it's always nice to get over the line and, more importantly, get the win," he said.
"But it was just disappointing that the game became so difficult for us. We made it really hard on ourselves – but credit to the boys because the effort has been there all year.
"We make ourselves work harder than we have to in games but we found a way to win against Dewsbury. Usually that's the sign of a good team – to win even when you're not at your best."
The Bulls could be boosted by the return of Harry Siejka following his recovery from ankle ligament damage.
"I guess it's the perfect time to get Harry back, especially with Gasky (Lee Gaskell) not playing last week," said Purtell.
"Ideally we would like both our starting half-backs available but to get Harry back will be good for us.
"The middle eights are just around the corner now, so we want to have our best team out there and give it our best shot to go back up."
