BULLS star James Mendeika admitted he was in dreamland after marking his home debut with two tries.

The recent signing from Featherstone has quickly acclimatised to life at Bradford and he impressed off the bench for the third game running.

Mendeika replaced Ryan Shaw at full back in Sunday's 72-6 demolition of Doncaster and showed his class by twice crossing the line.

Mendeika said: "It's been great to come here and get into the team straight away, albeit through other people getting injured or knocked out.

"But I'll take my opportunities when they come and to play at Odsal, and get a good 40 minutes under my belt, I was delighted.

"We had talked a lot last week about ruck speed and getting on the back of that, so my job was to push around the ruck and be there to support any breaks.

"Luckily it worked out well as I scored two tries, so hopefully I can get more now."

Mendeika, 23, is proving a shrewd signing and has slotted in at full back and half back in his three appearances so far.

He replaced Shaw during the Summer Bash victory over Halifax at Blackpool and Danny Addy against London Broncos after both men were taken off with head knocks.

Coincidentally, Shaw was taken off at half-time against Doncaster after suffering another head knock and Mendeika is ready to start against Dewsbury this weekend if his Cumbrian team-mate fails a head test.

Mendeika said: "Danny got knocked out against London but was fine to play against Doncaster, so we'll see what happens with Shawy this week.

"If Ryan isn't fit then I'll be raring to go and if he's not then I'll be on the bench again and ready to come on.

"I think Jimmy wants the increased competition for places anyway.

"Ryan pushes me as much as I push him and it's really good to have such a competitive team.

"We're good mates and have been together since we were about 16 in the academy at Warrington.

"We travel over to Bradford together and the atmosphere in training here is the best I've ever known.

"I've only been here for a few weeks but I genuinely love it. I've felt at home here straight away and I'm playing with some of my best mates.

"I'm still getting to know the players but it's good and it should get better every week."
