JIMMY Lowes praised his players after the Bulls destroyed Doncaster 72-6 to come within a whisker of overhauling Leigh at the summit.

The 14-try victory – Bradford's biggest league win of the season – took them level on points with Leigh, whose 27-match winning run was ended by a 29-20 defeat at London Broncos yesterday.

Yet head coach Lowes said he was not bothered about Leigh's fortunes and instead focused on the performance of his own side following their 14th straight Championship win.

"I'm not interested in anything to do with Leigh," said Lowes, whose side are now only five points worse off than the Centurions on points difference.

"All I'm going to talk about is how I judged our performance against Doncaster because we played them in this game.

"I thought we were poor in the first half but we came out in the second half and put Doncaster to the sword.

"We'll talk about Leigh when we play them and league positions will take care of themselves."

Danny Williams scored four tries and was instrumental throughout alongside Adrian Purtell on the Bulls' left-hand side.

Lowes said: "Danny has got better and better since he's been at the club and there were some great finishes, plus some good build-up play.

"There were a lot of pretty strong performances, irrelevant of the scoreline."

Worryingly, however, young back-rower Alex Mellor was taken off with a knee injury in the first half. Ryan Shaw and Lee Gaskell were also withdrawn following knocks to the head.

Lowes said: "Alex doesn't look good, to be fair. He will have a scan today and we will know the full extent of the injury then.

"The other two were just bangs to the head – Ryan when he caught a high ball in the 30th minute and then Lee Gaskell copped an elbow in the second half."

James Mendeika replaced Shaw at half-time and marked his home debut with a brace of tries.

Steve Crossley also touched down twice on his first Odsal outing since recently rejoining his home-town club.

Lowes said: "James Mendeika has done a fantastic job in every game he has come on."
