FORMER Bulls winger Elliot Kear has joined promotion rivals London Broncos following his short stint in rugby union with London Welsh.
The 26-year-old left Odsal at the end of last season after three years at the club and switched codes after a successful trial spell.
But he has now headed back to the 13-man code and is hoping to force his way into the Broncos’ team.
“I’m really pleased to sign the contract and come back to rugby league,” said the Wales international.
“I’m just really excited to get back on the field.
“I’ve felt like I’ve fitted in really well, I know a few of the boys from playing against them over the years and everyone has been really welcoming.
“The team spirit is really good, with some good wins.
“You can see the confidence is there and everyone enjoys each other’s company which is a big thing too. First things first, I just want to get into the team and play the best I can for the club.”
Head coach Andrew Henderson is pleased to get Kear signed, saying: “It’s a great signing for the club.
"I’m pleased we’ve managed to get Kear across the line. What he will bring is a vast amount of experience at Super League level and Championship level from when he was first starting out. He knows what this level of football is about as well.
"He’s a Welsh international too so he’s played at the highest level and some of the biggest stages in the World.
“The good thing about Kear is that he’s versatile so he can cover full-back, wing and can fill in at centre too, which is another reason I wanted to bring him in.
"It puts pressure on the guys already in the jersey and adds that much more competition for places.
“It’s another quality player that’s a good fit for us, he’s a good person and someone that wants to win, and he’s a competitor.
“He fits the bill for me and I’m excited to see what he’ll bring to the club, and with his experience how he’ll help some of the younger guys with their development too. Next stop for us is trying to bring in some more forwards.”
Kear will be available for selection for this Sunday’s home game at The Hive against Dewsbury Rams.
Meanwhile, legendary former Bulls boss Brian Noble has finally been confirmed as a mentor to Henderson at London.
Noble said: “Hendo is a friend of mine and I have a lot of time for him and I think he has a lot of talent. The dynamics of London makes it a great place to be and I want Andrew to be as successful as possible and anything I can do to help that happen I’m thrilled for.
“Part of my remit is to help Andrew and look at the football side and make recommendations.
"I'm encouraged by the commitment of the players, they are all enthusiastic, they've had some adversity with injuries and with a few people leaving, but they are all sticking together and the performances are getting better and better and that’s credit to Andrew.”
