DANNY Williams aims to force his way back into the team against Hull KR on Sunday, admitting: “It’s not a game I want to miss.”
The Bulls winger was sidelined during last weekend’s win over London Broncos with the hamstring injury he aggravated against Dewsbury on Easter Monday.
The period of rest has done him good and he is confident of being passed for this weekend’s eagerly-awaited Challenge Cup fifth-round showdown.
He will soon discover whether his recent rich run of form – Williams had scored six tries in fives games before the Dewsbury match – is enough to earn him a recall.
Williams said: “My hamstring felt a bit tight in the Good Friday game against Halifax and I couldn’t get through the Dewsbury match.
“I think playing two games in four days was a bit much but training has been going well this week.
“I’ve just got to get through training this week, make sure I’m available for selection and then it’s up to Jimmy what team he picks.
“We will see how the next few sessions go, but hopefully I should be fine for Sunday and will get straight back in the team.”
Williams could earn a recall on the wing if he is passed fit despite the fact that fellow widemen Etu Uaisele and Chris Ulugia both scored against London last week.
Reflecting on his recent flurry of tries, Williams said: “I’ve always said that my tries come on the back of the rest of the team’s performance.
“As long as the team is performing, it makes my job a lot easier.
“It’s a big game for us this weekend and is going to test what we’re about, so it’s obviously one that everyone wants to be fit for.
“If anyone is playing well in your position, then it’s good competition for places.
“Promotion is the main objective but when you’re playing Super League teams in the Challenge Cup it gives you an indicator of where you are at.
“If we can go as far as possible in this competition, obviously it will put us in good stead for playing against Super League teams next season.”
