STEVE Ferres says the Bulls will not rush to sign a replacement for Harry Siejka after the scrum half was ruled out for up to ten weeks.

Siejka went under the knife yesterday after fracturing his tibia and tearing ankle ligaments during last weekend’s win over London Broncos.

But Jake Mullaney is on the brink of being fit to return after missing the past three games with a hamstring strain and could slot straight into the number seven spot.

Danny Addy is another option, having played in the halves on numerous occasions in the past couple of seasons, while rookie scrum half Adam Brook is spending a month’s loan at Oxford.

Bulls managing director Ferres said: “Obviously Harry getting injured is a blow and the search for players for this season and next is an ongoing process and that process will continue.

“However, we’re pretty confident that we’ve got enough cover within the club at this moment in time.

“Jake Mullaney can play in the halves and should be fit to face Hull KR this week or Doncaster the week after.

“Danny Addy can also slot in there as he showed on Sunday after Harry had left the field.

“Adam Brook will be at Oxford for a month and to be fair to him, he will benefit from having some games during his time there.

“Oxford haven’t got a game this week but he will get three games in the month he is there.”

Ferres believes Siejka was just beginning to show the kind of form which saw him earn a fine reputation Down Under.

The 23-year-old represented the Australian Schoolboys and had stints at Penrith, New Zealand Warriors and St George Illawarra.

Ferres added: “Harry has done a lot of good work for us in games, plenty of which has gone unnoticed, but he’s a tough character who puts his body on the line defensively.

“He’s got good hands too and has got the ability to take on the line.

“After all the injuries Harry has had previously, he was just starting to get back to where he needed to be with his confidence, fitness and his ability.

“But that will come through because it’s there, so it’s just about getting him back in the fold again after this setback.

“The positive side of it is that we will have Harry back for the business end of the season and he will be coming back fresh as well.”

Ferres, meanwhile, is hoping for a bumper crowd of up to 7,000 for Sunday’s visit of Hull KR.

“It depends on what Hull KR bring with them, but I would anticipate they would bring a good following as they usually do,” said Ferres.

“They’ve had a good start to the season, so it would be nice to see 7,000 at Odsal on Sunday.

“It should be a testing game for both teams and give us an indication of where both teams are at.

“They have got some very good players and I’m looking forward to our fans seeing us come up against Super League opposition.

“They have been fabulous this season and have really made a difference.”
