BULLS boss Jimmy Lowes again blasted the Easter schedule after his team made it two wins in four days with a 30-16 victory at Dewsbury.
Lowes has been a vehement critic of the gruelling physical demands placed on players with the two games in quick succession over the Bank Holiday weekend.
He lost Dale Ferguson, Tom Olbison and Jean-Philippe Baile to injury in the Good Friday win over Halifax and saw Danny Williams (groin) and Chev Walker (knee) join the casualty list yesterday.
Head coach Lowes said: “It’s always a tough ask to back up at any level from two games in four days.
“Both teams battled really hard but I hope something is done about this Easter weekend.
“We lost a couple of players who got busted today and it’s all down to fatigue.
“It’s about rehydration and recovery and Dewsbury are in a similar sort of situation.
“You can’t knock the lads’ efforts and endeavour to turn up, but it needs to be looked at.
“Wigan and Saints knocked bells out of each other on Friday and they have to back up Monday, while we had a good battle against Halifax today and there is the fatigue element.
“We talk about health and safety and concussion but you’re going to get concussed a lot easier when you’re dehydrated. That’s a given fact, so something needs to be sorted.”
Lowes praised his men for recording an eight straight win in all competitions, adding: “I thought we started the game exceptionally well.
“We just lost a bit of direction and we bombed a couple of chances, plus I think a couple of decisions went against us.
“The only line break they made in the first half was the interception try they scored.”
On the injuries the Bulls suffered, Lowes said: “Danny strained his groin and had to come off.
“The plan wasn’t to play Lucas Walshaw for 80 minutes and we had to put him in the centres.
“Chev got a bit of a knock to his knee but we’ve got a couple of boys coming back this week against London.
“The squad has been tested from day one but Jay Pitts was fantastic today, as was Danny Addy, particularly in his second spell.
“I thought Harry Siejka wasn’t as fluid with the ball but he stood up and defended well against their props who ran at him.”
