JIMMY Lowes admits he has a major selection dilemma heading into Sunday’s trip to Batley.
The Bulls battered Hunslet 56-6 yesterday and Jake Mullaney again dovetailed to great effect with Lee Gaskell, while Ryan Shaw scored a hat-trick and kicked eight goals.
But Harry Siejka is available again after a two-match ban and Lowes will make a decision this week on whether to recall the Australian scrum-half.
The head coach said: “It is a conundrum for me and I’ll decide what to do in the week. We’ve thrown Jake in there with Harry being suspended and he looks like he’s played half-back for a number of years to be honest.”
Adam O’Brien scored twice in another fine display while Shaw took centre stage with his 28-point haul.
Yet Lowes said he wants more from the Cumbrian and cannot guarantee he will keep his place in the side.
He added: “He had moments – I wouldn’t say he had a cracking game myself.
“There were other things I wasn’t happy with from Ryan, in that first half in particular.
“But the good thing about Ryan is that if you tell him something then he works hard to put it into action.
“He does know how to finish and his goal-kicking is good at the moment but there are other aspects of the game which he needs to work on.
“Certainly for scoring, I can’t knock him for that at the moment.
“Whether he keeps that spot, I will make that decision this week, but he’s done a good job.”
Yesterday’s win was overshadowed by first-half injuries to Adrian Purtell (hamstring) and Alex Mellor (twisted ankle) while Etu Uaisele also missed out with a hamstring strain.
Lowes said: “They are being assessed after the game and we will find out tomorrow how bad the injuries are.”
