IT was great to go to Featherstone and get the win last weekend – the fact it was my old club made it even more special.
The lads played really well and I should have scored at the end… I actually cramped up before I got the ball!
I should have finished it as I was only centimetres from the line but I thought we had another play, so I tried to play the ball but then I heard the referee finish the game.
Overall, though, it was a great afternoon for the team and there were plenty of positives.
Chris Ulugia came into the team and took his chance really well with a couple of tries. He certainly took his opportunity with both hands, so that competition for places is good.
The squad is very strong and deep, which is showing already after a few games of the season. You know that if you don’t play well one week then you could be replaced the week after – and it’s like that in every position.
It’s now onto Hunslet and we will not underestimate them at all. We have seen the videos of them this week and they look pretty good.
They obviously beat Dewsbury last weekend, so we need to be right on top of our game.
It sounds like Brett Delaney will be playing for them on dual registration and everyone knows he’s a quality player. He has been there and done it for Leeds in the last few years, but they have got others players who we need to watch too.
George Flanagan is a mate of mine and we played together for Featherstone last season. George is a good player and, as a Bradford lad, will be relishing the opportunity to face the Bulls at Odsal.
We will just go out and play our own game. If we keep to our structures then we should have a positive performance and hopefully result.
The way things have gone in the opening three games, I think our performances are definitely getting better.
We are starting to gel and, while we are not there yet, the boys are playing well together.
I think it is only going to get better from here onwards.
