THE Bulls will trial the closure of the Rooley Lane Terrace for Sunday’s visit of Hunslet in a move designed to create a better atmosphere at Odsal and save the club money.
The Bulls have taken the decision to shut the traditional away end of the stadium on a trial basis and it is not yet known how many games it will remain closed for.
The bulk of supporters on Sunday will be housed in the Provident Stand and the Popular Side terrace, which runs down the opposite side of the pitch and where the players’ tunnel is situated.
A Bulls spokesperson said: “We are trialling the closure of the Rooley Lane Terrace in order to focus on the concentrating of supporters into areas of the stadium in which we have invested extra resources into, in terms of matchday experience.
“This includes the earlier opening of certain areas of the stadium, improved bars and meeting areas and the all-new 'Incredibull' Family Zone.
“It is known in sport that supporters help create an atmosphere, which ultimately creates the overall experience.
“This measure will also avoid the diluting of an atmosphere within what is a very large stadium.
"Supporter experience is at the forefront of our minds, as we want our and our opponents' fans to enjoy the best-possible game-day experience.
"We want to create a better atmosphere and are lucky in the fact that we are part of a sport where supporters do not need to be segregated.”
The spokesperson said the trial was also a money-saving exercise, adding: “We are committed to operating a viable business and as we hope supporters would agree, efficiency is vital in that.
“Again, this is the club showing that is it operating as efficiently possible while building on the matchday experience.
"Excitingly, we have some great things planned for the Rooley Avenue end of the ground, which we hope to launch this coming weekend.
"In order for supporters to get the most out of what we are hoping to bring to the Provident Stadium, we believe bringing everyone closer together will be beneficial.”
Meanwhile, Odsal is to host the fourth-round draw of the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup next Tuesday from 6pm.
The Bulls are inviting 1863 Club members to attend the event as Jimmy Lowes' men and the 11 other Championship clubs join the 12 winners of this weekend's third-round ties in the hat.
Tickets are limited to just 180 and 1863 Club members can apply via the Bulls' website.
