Joe Arundel is determined to force his way back into Francis Cummins’ plans and help keep the Bulls in Super League.
The former Castleford centre and Jay Pitts joined Bradford on loan from Hull FC on April 25 until the end of the season.
While Pitts has started every game since and produced another impressive 80-minute shift in Sunday’s win over Wakefield, Arundel was dropped for the game.
It followed the heavy defeat in Catalan the previous week but Arundel says he is enjoying his time at Odsal and remains determined to play his part in the coming weeks.
He cannot play in the Challenge Cup quarter-final against Warrington on Sunday, due to having already played for Hull in the competition this season, but will come back into contention for the trip to Salford seven days later.
The 22-year-old, who has two years remaining on his contract at Hull, said: “I’ve actually had a hand injury in the past couple of weeks and I had a jab last week to allow it to settle down, and obviously Franny rotated the squad.
“I can’t play this weekend against Warrington but I’ll be looking to bounce back the week after and help the boys to kick on from what they showed against Wakefield.
“I’ve enjoyed my time here and they’re a good set of lads. I’m just looking forward to getting that consistency back, week in and week out, that I know I’m capable of.
“Lee Radford will be keeping tabs on Jay and me to monitor our progress, and he keeps in touch.
“It’s good to have that security of my contract at Hull but at the end of the day I need to be playing.
“Keeping Bradford in Super League is a big priority and you just can’t imagine the competition without a club with this much history.”
Arundel was impressed with the manner in which the Bulls overcame the Wildcats, which reduced the gap between the sides to six points ahead of tomorrow’s points appeal hearing.
He said: “It was do or die so we knew we had to win. With that forward pack we had out, we’re going to cause problems for a lot of teams.
“Hopefully the points appeal will go our way but, with the squad we now have available, we’re more than capable of moving up the ladder anyway. We definitely plan on doing that.
“If the points appeal doesn’t go our way then there are plenty of games left to make up the gap and put our destiny in our own hands.”
The Bulls are still trying to extend Antonio Kaufusi’s loan after his initial four-game spell ended after the Wakefield game.
