Francis Cummins is predicting “plenty more twists and turns” this season as the Bulls seek to safeguard their Super League status.
Cummins’ men remain eight points behind third-bottom Wakefield after 13 rounds but the relegation picture could change dramatically in the next fortnight.
The Wildcats visit Odsal on June 1 and then, in the week after that crucial encounter, the Bulls’ appeal against their points penalty will be heard, although the date has yet to be confirmed by the Rugby Football League.
Bradford, Wakefield and London Broncos are rated as the most likely relegation candidates but teams such as Salford and Hull FC are far from safe either.
Head coach Cummins said: “There are definitely a few twists to come yet but the good thing is we are getting players back.
“There are a few nervous clubs now, which is good and gets some pressure on other people for a change.
“We just need to keep improving and play our best. If we do that then I’m confident.
“There are a few clubs who have spent a lot of money and it’s not happening for them at the moment. There is pressure on them to perform and we’re going to get some wins.
“You never know what might turn in our favour and, if things do, then those other clubs will be under even greater pressure.”
Catalan Dragons, this weekend’s opponents, appear to have edged themselves away from the prospect of a relegation dogfight after beating London last weekend.
The result lifted them to 12 points but Cummins said: “It only takes a dodgy week of injuries and it can start to go the other way, although I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
“Catalan are still nervous but, like I say, there will be plenty of twists and turns over the coming weeks and months.”
Meanwhile, the Bulls coach remains on the look-out for further signings and said: “There is nothing else imminent but we’ve still got our ears to the ground.
“We’re still looking and signing Jordan Baldwinson and Mason Tonks from New Zealand shows we have been looking at all options.”
