Bulls coach Francis Cummins will make late calls on a number of players ahead of their Magic Weekend showdown with Huddersfield on Sunday.
A sickness bug in the camp which affected Luke Gale last week has since struck down other members of Cummins’ squad.
The Bulls boss will check on those affected and players nursing injuries such as Gale (hamstring), Chev Walker (toe), Manase Manuokafoa (hamstring) and James Donaldson (ankle).
“We had a little bit of sickness in the camp last week and Luke Gale was probably out all week with it,” said Cummins.
“We’ve had a few more lads suffering with it this week, so we’ve sent them home and kept them away from training.
“We know we were going to be down on numbers anyway this week – but we’ve been in this position all year.
“We just have to confront it and be better than we were against St Helens.”
On the players he hopes to have available to face the Giants, Cummins added: “Chev will be a late call and we will go right to the wire with him.
“We’re hopeful on Luke Gale but he will be another late call.
“James Donaldson has been edging back towards fitness and has taken another step forward but again, it’s going to be Friday or Saturday before we know.
“Nas is rehabbing and we also will leave him until the end of the week.”
Cummins said he was hopeful of adding to his squad shortly but that it was unlikely any deal would be sealed in time for Sunday’s game.
“I’ve got everything crossed but I think this weekend will probably come a bit too early,” he said.
“We’re trying every possible area we can because we are down on numbers and that has been well documented.
“Hopefully something will happen next week and we definitely need middle men, so we are trying to prioritise in that position, although we do want to improve the overall numbers and quality we’ve got.
“It may well start to happen in the next few weeks that players get a bit fed up of not playing or having to play somewhere else, which could open doors for us.”
Antonio Kaufusi is ineligible to face his parent club this weekend but can play against Catalan and Wakefield before his initial one-month loan spell expires.
Cummins said: “Antonio was our best forward against St Helens and is really enjoying himself here, so we’ll look to keep him as long as possible.”
