Jarrod Sammut has apologised to Bulls fans following his move to Wakefield and thanked them for the “love and support” they gave him.
The 27-year-old stand-off joined Bradford in the winter of 2011 after a previous spell in Super League with Crusaders.
Although Sammut had another year left on his contract at the Provident Stadium, he made clear his desire to leave and penned a two-year deal with the Wildcats last week.
Sammut was a hugely popular figure with Bradford supporters during his two seasons at the club and scored 22 Super League tries in 23 appearances last term.
That included a hat-trick in the memorable win at Huddersfield in March and two four-try hauls against London Broncos and the Giants in April and September respectively.
Sammut addressed Bulls supporters in a message posted on Twitter as he prepares to face his former team-mates in tonight’s crunch clash.
He said: “I must give a big thanks to the passionate Bradford fans and those involved for all your love and support over the past few years.
“I have loved every minute of my time with the Bulls and have made long-lasting memories and friendships, which I am grateful for.
“While it hasn’t all been the most pleasant, it has been an experience that I’ll never forget.
“I do apologise for leaving but it’s what’s best for my family at this point in time. I hope you can understand.
“Thank you all again for welcoming me into the Bradford Bulls family and a feeling of home away from home. I wish you the best of luck for the rest of the season.”
