Jarrod Sammut admits he has spoken to rival Super League clubs but insists his favoured option would be to stay at the Bulls.
The Aussie stand-off – a popular figure with supporters – has attracted interest from a number of teams, including London Broncos, as the Bulls look to make savings of up to £400,000.
Sammut accepts he cannot afford not to explore other avenues but ideally would like to see out the last year of his contract at Odsal.
The 26-year-old, who joined the Bulls from Crusaders ahead of the 2012 campaign, is happily settled in West Yorkshire and is hoping the Bulls’ ownership saga can be resolved to safeguard the club’s future.
Sammut and Elliot Kear were part of Crusaders’ demise following their slide into administration in November 2010 and suffered a similar fate when the Bulls entered administration in June 2012.
Sammut said yesterday: “This has happened to me for the past four years now, so I can’t really afford not to have other options.
“I’ve spoken to other clubs with Bradford’s permission but I like it at the Bulls and I’m settled here, so my preferred option would be to stay put.
“As a rugby league player, our job is our source of income and we rely on it to provide support for our families.
“When that falls into jeopardy, you need to look at other options which are going to be more suitable.
“It causes everyday stress which you take home into your family life and subsequently causes even more stress.
“But hopefully there will be no need for any other options. Hopefully the Bulls can get themselves sorted and the club can move forward.
“As players we’ll keep working away and doing what we can to prepare for the new season.”
Sammut said an opportunity to return Down Under with an NRL club had presented itself but that it was “very short-lived” and was not now an option.
Luke Gale – recently appointed vice-captain by coach Francis Cummins ahead of the 2014 campaign – is also attracting interest from two Aviva Premiership clubs, one of which is Newcastle Falcons.
So far, however, coach Francis Cummins’ squad remains intact.
