Sam Burgess has not looked back since swapping Bradford for Bondi Beach ahead of the 2010 campaign.

The forward joined South Sydney from the Bulls and has established himself as one of the best players in the world, in either code.

“Life has changed drastically,” said Sam, who enjoys superstar status in Sydney.

“I left four years ago and at the beginning I missed my family a lot. The first year was hardest without my brothers and my mum there.

“I love England but in terms of life, I’ve got everything I had and more now.

“I guess I just miss a few friends and family but not enough to make me want to come back.”

The four Burgess brothers and mother Julie all live in Sydney after Tom became the last of the siblings to head Down Under last year.

“My mum’s a right little celebrity now,” added 24-year-old Sam, who is preparing to play for England for the first time since 2010.

“She’s very well known around Sydney but she’s a great woman and handles everything in her stride.

“The most pleasing thing was when we all played together [against Wests Tigers] and she got on the pitch. That’s the most rewarding feeling I’ve ever had.

“I’m really proud with how the twins have developed too. We’re four best mates as well as brothers.”
