Jamie Foster column: As soon as I got home from my visit to the specialist and told my family the news I would not require surgery, my gran’s first words were ‘Langtree Park’.
When I ruptured my pectoral muscle during the Tetley’s Challenge Cup tie at Rochdale last month, it looked like I could be out for a number of months.
But a visit to the specialist sports surgeon Professor Funk in Manchester led to me being told I did not require surgery.
I am going to rehabilitate the injury instead and Professor Funk clearly knows what he’s talking about.
Being in his office last week, it was clear how many leading sportsmen and women he has treated.
As I explained in yesterday’s T&A, I’m now well underway with my rehab’ and training with the lads, although I’m obviously limited in what I can do.
There’s not a return date yet because it’s probably stretching from between one month and two.
We’ve got St Helens away on June 9 and that will probably be too early for me, but it was the first thing on my family’s mind when I told them I could be back sooner than expected!
It’s an absolutely massive game and I’d love to be running out with the lads because it’s my hometown club and I effectively grew up there.
We let ourselves down massively against Saints last time at home.
We’ll be wanting to peak in that one and play well but, from a personal view the most important thing is to get myself fully fit again.
Behind the scenes, contract talks with the Bulls are progressing well and hopefully there will be a positive announcement soon.
As I’ve said before, Bradford have looked after me brilliantly and staying here is a no-brainer for me.
On the pitch, we’ve had a tough run but any side would find life tough when playing Wigan, Warrington and Leeds in succession.
We know we’re better than what we’ve produced and the onus is on us to go to London tonight and put on a show.
There’s a lot of talent within this squad and I’m sure we’ll start showing that again tonight.
