Manase Manuokafoa could barely conceal his pride after being named in the Exiles squad for next month’s International Origin match against England.

“I was over the moon, words can’t explain it, especially with the amount of quality players in Super League,” said the Sydney-born Bulls prop and Tonga international.

“It’s a big thing for me and I’d love to play. I’m representing my country and my parents’ country of birth.

“I’m also representing my family over here, my wife and son, and also the Bulls.”

Whether or not Manuokafoa, Jarrod Sammut and Heath L’Estrange play against Steve McNamara’s side at Warrington on June 14 remains to be seen.

But being recognised has poured confidence into Manuoakafoa, who signed a new two-year deal during the off-season after an impressive debut campaign.

Manuokafoa added: “The team is going well and I’m pleased with my form too.

“Hopefully Heath, Jarrod and I will all play against Exiles. That would be a really proud moment.”

First Manuokafoa is looking forward to crossing swords with Leeds and one man in particular.

“Jamie Peacock was one of my idols,” he said. “He was a Great Britain front-rower and just a great leader. You can tell that just with the way he carries himself on the field.

“He’s a hard player and gets through a lot of work.”

“That’s my job too, so I just try and base my game around carrying the ball strongly and being strong defensively up the middle.

“Playing Leeds is a big challenge but I’m up for it.”
