Danny Addy has revealed he is due to begin contract talks with the Bulls within the next week.
The 23-year-old signed a one-year deal during the off-season which expires at the end of the current campaign.
Having performed well in the halves and the pack this season, Addy has again proved a valuable member of Francis Cummins’ squad and is keen to extend his stay at the club.
The Bulls have begun talks with several players over deals for next season as they await final confirmation of their Super League status for the 2014 campaign.
Addy, 22, said: “My contract is up at the end of the year and I’m going to be in talks with the club in the next week or so.
“I love it at Bradford and have come through the ranks here.
“I’ve effectively grown up at the club and want to sign a new deal – preferably longer than one year.”
Addy has featured in every game this season and is back in his favoured position in the back row after several weeks at half-back when Luke Gale was out injured.
Addy said: “Maybe at the start of the season I was playing because of injuries to others but hopefully now I’m doing well enough to keep my spot.
“I played mostly at loose forward on Sunday, which is my favourite position, but like I’ve said before I don’t mind where I play as long as I’m playing.
“To get some game time in the back row at loose forward is good. I’m just trying to do my job and keep my spot in the team.”
Addy admits the Bulls require a significant improvement from Sunday’s defeat to Warrington when they host arch-rivals Leeds on Friday.
“Leeds are a top team and we managed to get a draw against them last month,” he said.
“It would be great to get one over on them. We beat them at home last year, which was a great win, and to do the same again would be awesome.
“Hopefully if we stick to our gameplan and keep hold of the ball – which we didn’t do on Sunday – then we will be in with a chance.”
Meanwhile, the Bulls will assess John Bateman ahead of Friday’s derby after he sustained a wrist injury during Sunday’s 32-4 loss at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Should the highly-rated back-rower miss out, Cummins has a ready-made replacement in Tom Olbison, who missed out on selection at Warrington.
Matty Blythe looks set to be passed fit after a back problem and could push for inclusion in the 17.
Leeds rookie Stevie Ward is set for a lengthty period on the sidelines after he dislocated the same shoulder he had surgery on last year.
