Jamie Foster column
There’s only one place to start this week and that’s with my injury. I’m obviously gutted with what has happened but, as I said earlier in the week, I’m already looking forward in very positive terms.
I certainly won’t be moping about the place in the next three months. If you look after your injuries you can shave weeks off your time on the sidelines. If you don’t look after your injuries then that will work against you, but I definitely won’t do that.
I’ve thought about it already. I’m going to look after my diet and all the other little things that I have control over. I’m going to still be around all the lads and will know the ins and outs of what’s going on.
Looking ahead to this weekend’s match, I always enjoyed playing against Warrington when I was at St Helens. I think I’ve only ever been involved in one game when I’ve come up short against them in about seven fixtures.
We just had the Indian sign over them for so long. I’m not sure what it was, sometimes we could maybe play at 80 per cent and would still get the win somehow.
It was just one of those things when the likes of Keiron Cunningham or Sean Long would produce a piece of magic. I kind of jumped on the back of that with the younger lads and it just carried on.
They were always good games against Warrington. They’re a very well-supported club and I think the success they’ve had in recent years has just made them even hungrier.
Like I’ve said before, when we play these big teams I think it’s a real test for us. You need to up your game.
It’s all right beating the teams around you but if you really want to go to the next level, which as a group of players we do because Franny has drilled that into us, then we need to start knocking the bigger teams over.
