The Bulls look certain to be granted a Super League licence for next year following successful talks with the Rugby Football League on Friday.
Honorary chairman Gerry Sutcliffe revealed at Saturday’s fans' forum that RFL director of licensing and standards Blake Solly will recommend to the board that the Bulls be given a full licence until the end of 2014.
However, it was also revealed that the club will again not receive the full Sky money for next year.
Sutcliffe said the club would get only 50 per cent of the monies in both 2013 and 2014.
“Obviously that’s not something we are happy about but we’ll have to abide by it,” said the former Sports Minister, who expressed his anger at the proposed closure of the Don Valley athletics stadium in Sheffield.
Sutcliffe said the Bulls had also voiced their intention to the RFL to buy back the lease on Odsal from the governing body as soon as possible.
It was announced that Jay Willey’s proposed purchase of a significant shareholding in the Bulls is in the final stages of being completed and that the proposed share issue to fans should be available within the next four weeks.
General manager Ryan Whitcut said the Eighties concert to be held at Odsal on May 25 would be the only major music event over the Bank Holiday weekend, as opposed to the three originally planned.
Instead, there would be events on the Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday involving local acts and including an Asian Mela.
It was announced around 150 half-season tickets had been sold but Omar Khan urged more supporters to back the Bulls in the light of original season-ticket sales of 6,500.
On the playing side, coach Francis Cummins said that, while results this season have been disappointing for the Academy side, emphasis was firmly on producing players for the first-team.
Cummins said a number of players, such as Jamie Foster, John Bateman and Matty Blythe, could all be fit for Sunday’s Challenge Cup tie at Rochdale.
