Barry Conlon today pledged his immediate future to City and insisted: This place feels like home.
Conlon will sign the short-term deal tying him to Valley Parade for the rest of the season and revealed he never had any intentions of looking elsewhere.
Several other League Two clubs were believed to be monitoring his position but the big striker, who has scored seven goals, was not interested.
Conlon said: “My mind’s been made up for a while. As long as the gaffer offered me something, I was always going to take it.
“There were a few sniffs here and there but it was Bradford City all the way for me. I had no doubts at all.
“I just feel at home. I love being around the place, the lads are a great bunch and there’s no way I wanted to leave.
“We’re in the right area of the table at the moment and the challenge for me now is to help us achieve something this season. It’s a confident changing room and I’m glad to be a part of that.”
Conlon has won over his Valley Parade critics and Stuart McCall believes he does a valuable job for the team with his hold-up play.
The City chief said: “The way Barry is, there’s always clubs at this level that want him. He’s got a good goal-scoring record over his career and centre forwards like that are hard to come by.
“I know other clubs were looking to give him 18-month security but I think he feels there is business to be finished here.
“We’re happy and I’m pleased he’s happy. I just hope he is as successful in the next few months as he has been in the first few.”
Winger Leon Osborne is also expected to sign his contract offer in the next few days, once he has recovered from an eye infection.
