Baildon Colts, doubtless spurred on by the words of their coach Andy Pollard – “It may be Christmas, but we give no presents” – ended their 2008 fixtures with an 11-0 home cup victory over Hull.

It was a hard-fought game, with the hosts’ back row tackling Hull to a standstill.

Mishandling let Baildon down early on until Rob Moore kicked a penalty.

Further pressure from the forwards saw quick ball spun wide for Elliott Waddington to race in wide out.

The home backs were always a threat, with JJ O’Connell on song.

Without good tackling from Hull, James Morton, Moore and Craig Richards would all have crossed.

Baildon again controlled the game in the second half but this time by playing a tighter formation.

The forwards counter-rucked and the power of Ryan Kershaw, Jonny Picken and Guy Price, along with the speed of Danny Pollard to the breakdown, proved decisive.

With time running out, Moore scuffed a drop goal that crept over to make the final score 11-0.
