BRADFORD & Bingley's under-15s have a big end to their season in prospect.
Not only are they through to the Yorkshire Plate final, where they meet hosts Hull Ionians on Sunday, April 26, but they are also hosting a touring team from Madrid this weekend.
The Bees qualified for the final with a 10-7 victory at Selby, overcoming an early start to match the home side in what became a midfield arm wrestle.
The visitors suffered a debatable sin-binning but Spaniard Alvaro Casas nipped down the blindside to score in the corner, leaving the Bees 7-5 adrift at half-time.
A series of penalties meant the Bees again had to defend manfully in the second half. But they managed it and worked their way upfield for man mountain Connor Fry to score against the run of play, with more solid defence ensuring the visitors' victory.
The man of the match award went to the whole Bees squad, who have now won 13 matches this season, drawing two and losing one.
On Saturday, they face the Casas Indus team at Wagon Lane (noon).
The tourists train at Wagon Lane tonight and tomorrow night and have also been sight-seeing in Bradford, Skipton and Leeds. It is hoped that the Bees will be going over to Spain next season.
Bradford & Bingley under-16s lost their Yorkshire Plate semi-final 77-7 against Hull Ionians.
