Clubs have taken action within the Mewies Solicitors Craven League to try and reduce the number of conceded matches.
A total of 39 league and cup games did not take place in 2014 because clubs could not raise sides, and Sutton reckon that holding the first round of the Wynn Cup and Cowling Cups on a Saturday would help.
Sutton were particularly thinking of the Cowling Cup when they thought of the proposed rule change, although they don’t state which Saturdays league fixtures will be moved.
In contrast, Bingley Congs were concentrating on league matches, where they feel a mere concession is not enough of a penalty.
They want the conceding clubs to also be deducted one league point.
Sutton also want bowlers in divisions Four and Five to be restricted to a maximum of nine overs, thereby giving more players – especially juniors – an active role.
In addition, they want the playing season for these two divisions to run from the first Saturday after May 1 to the last Saturday in August, thereby reducing the overlap with the football season at both the beginning and end of the cricket season.
