Budding hoops shooter Oliver Keeys played for West Yorkshire under-13s in a competition against teams from North and South Yorkshire.
The Queensbury School pupil earned his place in the squad after impressing during trials at Leeds Carnegie.
A regional coach scouted the games to pick a team of ten to go on and represent Yorkshire in the county championships later this month.
And although Keeys, who plays for Bradford Maroons, missed out this time, he has another year in the age group and is determined to go one step further next year.
