Barney Gibson (Pudsey Congs) and Mustahsan Ali Shah (Idle) have taken a step towards a Scholarship contract with Yorkshire County Cricket Club.

Both have been invited to the Men’s Gold Level nets at the Yorkshire Cricket Board’s Pathways to Cricket Excellence scheme, from which all the recent Academy staff have been recruited.

Joining them are Andrew Gorrod (Gomersal), David Amos (Pool), Josh Atkinson (Otley) and Evan Edwards (Lightcliffe).

Damon Reeve (Guiseley) and Shahid Rehman (Cleckheaton) have been selected for the Men’s Silver One Level sessions, also at the Yorkshire Cricket Centre, while Rawdon duo Callum and Nathan Goldthorp, Dylan Budge (Thackley), Navjot Devesher (Bolton Villas), Jack Harrison (Olicanians), Jordan Thompson (Guiseley), Stuart Ward (Calverley) and Jaymish Patel (Birstall) have all been invited to the Men’s Silver Two Level nets.

Bronze Level invitations to the Woodlands Indoor School at Oakenshaw have been accepted by East Bierley’s Cameron Bell and Sean Burns, Bradford & Bingley’s Matthew Keeton and Navdeep Panesar, Harden’s George Gill and Thomas Williams and Otley’s Tom Brady and Joseph Bramham, as well as William Carter (Pool), Siraj Hussain (Undercliffe), Raees Ishtiaq (Great Horton Church), Jibrael Malik (Ilkley), Keegan Moodley (Pudsey Congs), Gregory Newark (Guiseley) and Mustafa Raffique (Horsforth).

Andrew Wear (Denholme), Ben Whitfield (Keighley) and Saleem Qureshi (Steeton) are among the acceptances for the West Two Bronze Level sessions at Heckmondwike Grammar School, alongside Patrick Dixon (Harden), Keir Litjens (Brighouse), Ben Morley (Rawdon), Bradley Birkhead (Rastrick) and Batley duo Mohammed Bhoola and Mohammed Khan.

Pool’s Emma Fletcher and Hannah Buck are among the invitees to the Women’s Gold Level sessions at the Yorkshire Cricket Centre, alongside Emma Bolt (Mirfield), Naomi Pratt (Ben Rhydding), Caitlin Williams (Burley-in-Wharfedale) and Kirstin Smith (Queensbury and Bradford Ladies).

Ellie Taylor and Daniella Topham (who also plays for Low Moor) spearhead Pool’s efforts in the Women’s Silver Level nets at the same venue, while Gildersome also have two players there in Alexandra Bailey (also Cleckheaton) and Ellis Lill (also Birstall).

Other nominees include Sophie Berry (Thornton), Anna Ross (Burley-in-Wharfedale) and Kimberley Worthington (Queensbury).

Phoebe Robb (Haworth West End), the first girl to take a hat-trick in the history of the Upper Airedale Junior League), and Elise Thornton (Pudsey St Lawrence) have been invited to attend the Westville House Girls’ Development Centre sessions in Ilkley.

But that intake is dominated by players from the Wharfe Valley area, including a quartet from Burley-in-Wharfedale - Eva Atrasziewicz, Laura Donohue, Roanna Holmes and Rebecca Nixon - and trios from Olicanian (Imogen Cressey, Francesca Fearnley and Phoebe Harrison), Yeadon (Florrie Kamstra, Rebecca Moore and Rebecca Robson) and Ben Rhydding and Ilkley (Laura Scarlett, Hannah Spivey and Natasha Sunderland).
