The Upper Airedale Junior Cricket League have selected a squad of 18 for their under-12 side.

However, new team manager Chris Kimberley plans to hold early-season form trials, and a number of under-11 players will be incorporated into the squad with a view to 2011.

The provisional list is essentially based on 2009 form but additions to the squad may be made once current form is taken into account.

The 2010 team will be captained by Lewis Hopkinson of Oxenhope and, subject to confirmation, the squad of 18 will also consist of: C Holmes, R Webb-Foster, E Jackson (all Oxenhope), M Wear (Denholme), N Atkinson (Skipton), J Greenbank, K Mara, M Naylor (all Earby), B Weatherall, D Scott, T Bradley (all Oakworth), O Whyte, T Webster (both Upper Wharfedale), H Andrews, D Hunt (both Bradley), J Ryland (Pendle Forest), M Davies (Embsay).

In addition, T Addison (Oxenhope), J Fawcett (Upper Wharfedale), C Hall (Cullingworth), W Booth (Settle) and B Akrigg (Steeton) will also, as highly-rated under-11s, be invited to the trials.

Outgoing team manager Terry Thompson said: “Once again, the Upper Airedale Junior League looks to have a strong squad, which, given focus, we hope will perform very well in their four matches against the Airedale & Wharfedale Junior and the Bradford Junior leagues.

“Last season the team won two and lost one of its four matches, showing continued development from 2008.

“Even in the away match lost to Bradford, the boys showed resilience as they fought back from a disastrous start of five for three, only to lose with seven balls remaining.”
