ALL Saints Primary School have become the first team from Bradford to win through to the regional stages of this year’s Drax Cup – the country’s biggest cricket competition for under-nines.
They secured a 112-78 victory over St Stephen’s in the final of the Accelerate School Sports Partnership qualifier at East Bierley Cricket Club, which involved 12 schools from the south Bradford area.
All Saints overcame Newby in the semi-finals, while St Stephen’s defeated Hollingwood after the quartet finished top of their pools.
Steve Archer, Yorkshire Cricket Board development manager for West Yorkshire, said: “It was a fantastic day, both in the quality of cricket and the spirit in which it was played.”
