Former Woodhouse Grove pupil Naomi Broady has made her mark for the second successive week in a women's tennis tournament.
After reaching the semi-finals of the $10,000 event in Sunderland, the 17-year-old defeated fourth seed Anna Smith (Great Britain) 3-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 in the first round of the $10,000 tournament in Wrexham.
Stockport-based Broady then fell 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 6-2 to eventual winner and fellow qualifier Elena Kulikova (Russia).
In the qualifying event, Broady was seeded second and beat Anastasia Burmistrova (Russia) 6-1, 6-0 and ninth seed Diana Eriksson (Sweden) 7-5, 6-2.
Huddersfield's Danielle Brown lost 6-2, 6-2 to Anna Brazhnikova (Sweden) in the final qualifying round.
