Former England all-rounder Craig White has offered two aspiring youngsters from financially disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunity to take part as his guests in the first-ever Craig White Cricket Academy coaching sessions.

Held at Bramcote School in Scarborough from February 11 to 13 and 14 to 16, the three-day courses will include daily three-hour sessions for groups split into under-13 and under-18 age groups.

One-hour courses for under-nines, tagged "Whitey's Tykes," will also be held at the same venue on February 12 and 14.

To mark the occasion, the Yorkshire star - known as Chalky - has allowed the Dickie Bird Foundation the chance to nominate the two youngsters to participate in a three-day course of their choice.

Alongside Craig himself, Yorkshire wicket-keeper Simon Guy and Yorkshire and England Under-19 batsman Adam Lyth will make up the very distinguished coaching staff.

White, who has long made it known that he sees his future in coaching, said: "I am very excited at the prospect of launching the Academy and to have the chance to put something back into the game that his given me so much.

"The courses cost £95 for the three days or £8 for Whitey's Tykes."
