Holly Shreeve and Carly Robertson were the star junior performers for Bingley Harriers in the Yorkshire Cross-Country Championships at Fartown High School in Huddersfield.

Holly took the silver medal and Carly finished fifth in the under-15 girls' race.

They were supported by Kate Ogelsby (55th), Ellie English (56th) and Emily Peacock (57th) and the team came a creditable fifth out of 13.

Biggest turnout on a warm but windy day was in the under-13 boys' race where James Hall (13th) led the Bingley team home.

Following him were George Bairstow (26th), Thomas Potter (36th), James Wilson (57th), Thomas Dickens (58th) and David Peacock (63rd), which put them seventh in the team race - a great effort as most of the boys are at the lower end of the age group.

Natalie Brown was the only Bingley finisher in the under-13 girls' race, coming 32nd out of 69, and the under-15 boys had just two Harriers finishers, Ben Mariott coming 30th and James Oxford 47th in churned-up mud. Holly Craig was 17th in the under-17 women's race.

The Northern Championships are at Roundhay Park, Leeds on Saturday, January 26.
