Bradford's Dean Burnett brought home a gold medal from what is believed to be the United Kingdom's largest disability junior athletics competition.

The Haycliffe School student won the boys' under-13s 100 metre sprint against some stiff opposition.

But not even torrential rain could dampen spirits at South Leeds Stadium, venue for the 15th annual npower Disport regional finals for competitors with learning difficulties. Heats had been held in Hull, Doncaster and Leeds, and the mayors of Rotherham and Doncaster were pre-sent on finals day.

Also there were the official mascots from Leeds United, Rotherham United and Sheffield Sharks.
