Bradford Grammar School’s boys’ under-16 team of Fraser Riley, Miles Loney, Max Orviss and Ed Philips have become West Yorkshire champions.
They defeated Beckfoot School 8-0, Brooksbank School (Calderdale) 7-1 and The Grammar School At Leeds 5-3 at Keighley Table Tennis Centre.
The last game was very close, with BGS 3-1 down after the first four matches, but they took the last four games.
Bradford Grammar’s under-13 team of Thomas Young, Joshua Poulsen, Joshua White and Nathan Hadaway played extremely well, winning their group. They met Brooksbank in the semi-final, defeating them 5-3 before losing the final. Bradford Grammar’s under-19 boys’ team finished third after losing to Beckfoot and Brooksbank.
Bradford Grammar’s under-16 boys’ and girls’ teams will both represent West Yorkshire in the next round of the English Schools’ Championships, which will be held next month.
