Bradford Park Avenue under-18s have chosen to wear a charity kit honouring teenage soldier Chris Kershaw for the forthcoming season.
Private Kershaw, who was killed in Afghanistan earlier this year, used to attend Hanson Academy, where most of the Avenue players are also pupils.
They will wear ‘Help For Heroes’ shirts in their Craven, Aire & Wharfe League away games this year to raise money. Bradford Skip Hire made a welcome donation towards the kit.
Team manager Andy Lauder said: “It’s a credit to the boys for wanting to do this. Let’s hope we can raise a good amount of money.”
The squad are planning to run a Christmas raffle, with all money raised going towards the charity.
