Wyke Wanderers under-eights edged out Drighlington 2-1 in their Huddersfield League A team match.
Reece Clay volleyed the opener from man of the match Jack Leach’s corner and although Drig equalised before half-time, Jacob Smith chipped a long-range winner.
The Wanderers B team contributed to their own downfall with an early own goal as they lost 2-0 to the same opposition.
Wyke deserved a point, with man of the match Kamran Latif going close on several occasions.
A young Wyke C team won 1-0 thanks to a goal by debutant Dillon Richmond, who was named man of the match. Sam Thornton also looked comfortable in his first game with the older boys.
Wibsey Lions under-tens conceded two late goals to cost them victory as A team opponents Shelf pinched a 3-2 win.
Jacob McLoughlin played a neat one-two with Owen Khan to give Wibsey an interval lead.
Shelf equalised and although Cameron Balmforth poked home a loose ball to restore the Lions’ lead, they were twice caught napping as Shelf leapfrogged them in the table.
The Wibsey under-tens B team had more joy as a 9-0 win against Shelf lifted them joint-top of the table.
Man of the match Nathan Aylott scored five of the goals, backed up by Connor Kiernan (2), Connor Barran and Travis Wardman’s first of the season.
Wibsey Lions under-14s lost 3-1 to Crossley, who moved above their title rivals as a result.
Connor Rhodes opened the scoring for Wibsey after a great cross by man of the match Damien Hields but the hosts netted three without further reply in the second half.
BPA under-16s stayed in touch with the leaders with a 4-1 victory at Battyeford as Dean Barton added two goals to those by Chris Wilkinson and Ciaran Rayner.
Wyke Wanderers under-11s put in a fantastic performance against Dewsbury Rangers and were unlucky not to take maximum points.
It finished 1-1 as Sam Wainman’s cross-shot before half-time cancelled out Dewsbury’s opener.
East Bowling Allstars under-13s opened the scoring against leaders Honley but could not maintain their advantage and lost 8-3 as Jordan Hobson’s hat-trick went to waste.
Several contentious refereeing decisions went against Bowling but Ebony Benjimin Hall, Shuaib Hussain, Sam Virr and Jack Stead could all be proud of their efforts.
Adam Bingley gave a man of the match display for Bradford Hornets under-12s but was unable to prevent a 5-2 defeat to BPA B. Damian Bailey and Oliver Turton scored the Hornets goals.
