Injury-ravaged Bradford Tigers under-14s lost a tight Craven, Aire & Wharfe League Invitational Medal semi-final 2-1 at home to Thackley.
There were few opportunities for either side in the first half but Thackley took the lead with 20 minutes of the second half remaining.
Gage Faulkner then equalised, only for Thackley to score again inside the last ten minutes.
Tigers, who were seeking a double after gaining promotion from Division C, rallied once more and were unlucky not to equalise on at least two occasions. Their match point went to industrious midfielder Zivo Takavarasha.
Bradford Park Avenue Eagles finished off their Keybury League Under-Tens Red Division season with an impressive 5-2 victory at Idle Stripes.
Fresh back a weekend tournament in Butlins, the Eagles created chances from the start, Ethan Rhodes’ stunning volley that flew in off a post putting them ahead.
Asa Mitchell, back from a broken hand, made it 2-0 by heading home a Rhodes cross-shot, and defenders Finley Power and Jaanas Khan and goalkeeper Jordan Moorhouse ensured that Idle did not reply before half-time.
Inspired by man of the match Josh Barrett, who was at the heart of most of Avenue’s good moves, Mitchell’s volley and former Idle player Eisa Faulding’s wonderful solo effort from the halfway line took the score to 4-0.
He turned a defender and beat two more on his way to the danger zone before firing home.
With the game in the bag, Avenue’s concentration slipped, allowing Idle two goals, but Mitchell then completed his hat-trick from an excellent Rhodes cross.
