Queensbury Cougars under-eights gained sweet revenge for their defeat by Shipley Lions earlier in the season with a last-gasp 3-2 win in a keenly-contested Keybury League Blue Division clash.

They scored an early goal with a deflected shot but their second was a cracking effort.

The Lions then started to find their rhythm, with Matthew Swallow and Sam Wilkinson denied by the Queensbury keeper, before Louis Fialdini pulled a goal back.

A second-half equaliser followed when a cross from Louis Anderson was converted by Fialdini in the box.

Both teams battled hard, with Lions midfielders Louis Turner and Harvey Western Beyer to the fore.

Charlie Menzies went close for the Lions with a terrific free-kick which hit the crossbar and they thought they had won it but for a superb goal-line clearance by Queensbury.

A great tackle from Will Robinson denied the Queensbury striker as he was about to shoot but the home side struck in the final minute to pinch the victory in what had been a fiercely competitive match.

The Lions’ main rivals this season have been Horsforth St Margarets Colts, who have yet to be beaten since forming two years ago.

They were pushed all the way by Keighley Shamrocks at the weekend, who tackled like Trojans in a closely-fought match that ended 0-0.

Both sides hit the post but a draw was a fair result and leaves Horsforth on the same number of points as Shipley with just one game left to play.

Bradford Park Avenue Eagles under-tens finished their season with a 6-2 win over Horsforth Mustangs.

Capain Jack Holroyd got the ball rolling with a quickfire hat-trick inside the first eight minutes.

Jordan Moorhouse made a stunning save to keep Horsforth out.

Kian Hutchinson’s clever back-heel found Finley Power, who fired home the goal of the game from the edge of the box.

Avenue didn’t let up in the second half, hitting the woodwork on several occasions.

Eisa Faulding finally got his goal after a second assist of the day from Danny Frost.

Horsforth pulled a goal back but Avenue were soon back on the attack and Holroyd volleyed home his fourth of the game, rendering Horsforth’s late strike merely a consolation.

Campion Junior under-nines and tens have won their respective divisions in the Keybury League.

The under-nines had a brilliant first season, remaining undefeated until the final game, while the under-tens went through the whole season without getting beaten.

Under-strength Bradford Tigers under-14s came mighty close to pulling off a draw at home to Keighley Shamrocks in their Craven, Aire & Wharfe League Cup Division Y tie.

Unbeaten Tigers trailed 3-0 at half-time but quality crosses by Tom Oman and Lucas Clayden brought goals for man of the match Gage Faulkner and Luke Duckett.

Then Faukner’s left-foot drive was tipped onto a post by Shamrocks’ keeper.

Bradford Park Avenue A under-13s thumped Silsden 6-0 the previous Wednesday to hit the top of the table and followed this up with a 6-2 win over Sandy Lane in their final game of the season.

Man of the match Liam Bates scored a hat-trick, with two from Olaf Rutkowski and Kenny Tafireyi also on the scoresheet.

Nabwood under-14s drew their Y Division cup clash with Long Lee Cobras 3-3. Finding themselves in a difficult group – with all of their group opponents at least two divisions higher – they more than matched Long Lee.

They led at the break 3-1, with top class finishes from Nick Hutton, Jack Partington and Oli Dunn.

A rattled Cobras side fought back to 3-2 but great goalkeeping from man of the match Zahid Ahmed and a goalmouth clearance from Jordan Fletcher kept Nab Wood in front, until an own goal in the final minutes gave the Cobras a point.

Bd3 Utd under-15s kept up their title hopes with an 8-1 win at Grassington.

Shoahiab Jamal scored a first-half hat-trick, Mohammad Hamza and Danny Butt scored two apiece and Mohammad Israr was also on target. Man of the match Danny Butt was excellent in midfield.

Bradford Park Avenue under-13s and Sutton Rogues fought out a 4-4 draw.

Pemphero Kalling-ama scored from the edge of the box for Avenue but Sutton hit back to lead 3-1.

Blake Horne’s corner was flicked into his own net by a Sutton defender but they regained their two-goal advantage in the second half.

Blake ran to the rescue to volley home at the near post to make it 4-3 and, with minutes to go, Reul Briscoe completed the comeback.

Prospect Juniors under-13s progressed to the semi-finals of the Invitation Cup with an 8-3 victory over Eldwick MP, goals coming from Jordon Farrell (2), Johnny Durkan (2), Jack Nagy, Joel Friis, Nathan Speight and Ellis Heald-Smith.

Prospect will now meet Burley Trojans in a two-legged semi-final.

In the Huddersfield RCD League, Wyke Wanderers A under-nines beat Howden Clough 3-0, all the goals coming in the second half.

It was Wake’s sixth clean sheet of the Division One campaign.

Jack Hewitt-Hill scored a terrific header and an own goal made it 2-0 before a further strike from Owen Khan.

Danny Ingham and Connor Barran were magnificent in midfield, linking up with the strikers and covering brilliantly at the back.

Wyke lost out against a strong Batley side 4-1 in their final game of the season.

Man of the match Charlie Smith scored a well-deserved consolation goal in the last minute but Wyke were never at the races.

In Division E, Wyke B lost 4-2 to Batley B.

Cameron Balmforth scored a well-taken goal near the end and a second goal for Wyke in the final minute was a case of Batley switching off too early.
