Bradford Tigers tested the nerves of their supporters and coaching staff before securing a 3-2 Craven, Aire & Wharfe League Under-14 C Division victory at Menston Rovers.
Gage Faulkner, Tigers’ man of the match for the second successive game, scored twice, Luke Duckett scored from a penalty but also missing a spot-kick. Tigers also hit a post from a deflected Lucas Davey drive as they climbed two places to fourth after an excellent contest.
Tigers Under-15s did not have the rub of the green in their 2-2 draw at Pudsey Juniors. Joe Stewart missed a penalty for the visitors, who trailed 2-0 up the slope and into the breeze, but they found Pudsey’s keeper in form after the changeround.
Wayne Sparkes converted a second-half spot-kick and, within two minutes, man of the match Stewart made it 2-2. Hassan Sabir was the managers’ man of the match.
Albion Sports B caused a shock in the same division with their 3-2 win at second-placed Oakworth Wasps, who led twice.
Man of the match Adam Yasin finished rom close range to level the score at 1-1 just before half-time, Mohammed Uddin hitting a second equaliser before getting the winner via a wicked deflection.
Nab Wood’s Jack Partington hit a brace to take his tally to 11 in 11 games in their 4-1 Division D win at Thackley B. Left winger Tom Keidan and skipper Charlie Hague also scored.
Albion Sports Under-13s made light of their eight-week lay-off with a 6-1 victory over Oakworth. Zain Mushtaq’s goals made it 2-0 at half-time and man of the match Nadeem Khan increased the lead before Oakworth replied.
Mushtaq then completed a noteworthy hat-trick, goals from Yusuf Kamran and Gurpreet Aujla finishing Wasps off. Midfielder Abdul Majid was outstanding for Albion.
Prospect, who beat Silsden 11-0, remain unbeaten, Ellis Heald-Smith (3), Johnny Durkan (2), Jordon Farrell (2), Dan Woffenden, captain Joel Friis and two own goals making up the tally for the leaders.
Avenue’s under-12s saw off Menston 12-2, Josh McKiernon (4) and Billy Raistrick (3) leading the way. Omar Powell (2), Callum Towriss, Daniel Isaacs and Jack Mongan also netted, with Daniel Isaacs man of the match.
Albion Sports’ under-11s triumphed 6-2 at Nab Wood Juniors, Izatuallah Ghaznewal, Sohail Ashraf, Bilal Tofan and Mohammed Hussain making it 4-0 before half-time.
Two great strikes made it 4-2 but a great penalty save from Albion’s goalkeeper and man of match Lewis Hawkes and two more poacher’s goals from top scorer Ghaznewal made the game safe. Nasaf Ahmed played well in defence on his debut.
Joe Waters put Bradford Park Avenue Lizards under-nines ahead at Bingley B in the Keybury League, Jack Wright, Stefan Giangregorio, Waters and Alex Gibson adding goals in the second half.
Avenue Eagles under-tens won 3-2 at Wilsden A with efforts from Daniel Frost, Asa Mitchell and Kian Hutchinson, Jordan Moorhouse ensuring the win with fine saves.
Wilsden B led against the leaders but ended up losing 5-1 to Avenue Hawks, whose goals came from Liam Brook, George Wood, Aaron Nowell (2) and Leon Marsh-Clark. Man of the match was Jack Halmshaw.
BD3 United are through to the semi-finals of the Bradford & District FA Under-15s Cup after a 5-4 win.
Prospect scored in the first minute but BD3 went 2-1 up via man of the match Hamza Khan and Sulaman Majid.
Then United found themselves 3-2 behind abd replied with quick-fire goals from Ozair Arshad and Khan. Prospect then made it 4-4 before Shohaib JB got the winner.
Michael Ngwenya, Avraj Basi and Bradley Jones netted for Albion Sports Under-12s as they defeated Warley Tigers 3-1 in the West Riding County FA Junior Shield, with Zak Guy pulling the strings.
Farsley Celtic Under-14s sneaked a late winner in the Garforth League against visitors Albion Sports A in a feisty and controversial derby.
Albion were 2-0 down at half-time, despite dominating, Brendon Khulani and Quasim Ali putting them level in the second half. Man of the match Joe Rhodes worked hard in defence.
Horton Foxes under-11s remain four points clear at the top after a hard-fought 2-1 win at Wortley Blues.
Foxes took the lead in the first half with an own goal, Wortley equalising five minutes into the second half, but Rhys Delaney got the winner.
Wyke Wanderers under-nines A had a 3-0 win at Howden Clough in the Huddersfield RCD League. Man of the match Owen Khan netted a hat-trick but this was no one-man show.
Wanderers’ B team gave what was easily their best display of the season in going down 6-3 at in-form Kirkburton C. Khan (2) and Cameron Balmforth scored.
