All Bradford Council pitches have been ruled unplayable this weekend due to waterlogging.
Continuing heavy rain has left groundsmen unable to work on the surfaces, meaning all football and rugby clubs who use council pitches have had their Saturday and Sunday matches postponed.
Graeme Atkins, Bradford Council's area parks and landscapes manager, explained: "We have waited as long as we could but we just can't get on the pitches to do any work on them.
"This means that reluctantly we have had to close all our football and rugby facilities, including schools, this weekend."
Leeds City Council have decided to shut down all their outdoor sports pitches this weekend as well.
