BPA Lizards Under-12s did not suffer from ring-rust, despite playing their first match since November, when they defeated fourth-placed Leeds Maccabi 5-2 in the Keybury Alarms Youth League to maintain their 100 per cent record.
On a heavy pitch, BPA took the lead after 18 minutes when Dominic Corps calmly chipped the keeper following Jacon Dunn’s excellent ball.
Two minutes later, Lizards added a second from a free-kick just outside the Maccabi box, Corps’ fierce cross being bravely headed in by Lewis Melvin.
Corps was denied a second by the assistant referee’s flag but the disappointment only lasted a minute as Melvin scored from Alex Gibson’s cross.
Half-time substitute Mackenzie Lister added a fourth before Maccabi replied with a brace, BPA getting a late fifth.
Wyke Wanderers A went second in the Huddersfield RCD League Under-Tens Division E after an 8-0 derby win at Wibsey A, which has nicely set up this weekend’s home clash with leaders Ryburn United Reds.
Jack Leach (2), Reece Clay (2), Stan Cahill and an own goal put Wyke 6-0 ahead before half-time, Leach and Clay also netting in the second half.
Wyke’s B team won 8-1 over Wibsey B, with goals from Kamran Latif (3), Loiu Cook (2), Ranganai Muza, Nathan Moore and Freddie Downes, to stay top of Division R.
