Horsforth St Margaret’s under-11s Stallions closed in on the Craven, Aire & Wharfe League Division D title with an impressive 5-2 victory over title rivals Eldwick in Sunday’s eagerly-anticipated rematch.
Horsforth, who remain unbeaten this season, were still smarting from a 4-4 draw at Eldwick earlier in the campaign when the hosts had equalised deep into stoppage time.
Eldwick began strongly and drew first blood with a goal after four minutes, Jack Marshall heading home at the near post from a corner, but once Horsforth got into their stride there was only going to be one winner.
Miles Hanakin rifled home the first from an acute angle and Lewis Whincup added the second from close range to continue his rich vein of form, having hit a hat-trick in the previous week’s 7-0 win over Silsden.
Horsforth’s top scorer Morgan Eastwood grabbed his 19th goal of the campaign with a fierce shot into the top corner and Hanakin and Whincup completed their braces after the break.
Eldwick snatched a second in the dying minutes with a neat chip from Matthew Criddle to end an entertaining contest.
Henry Burns was named Horsforth’s man of the match for a tireless display in midfield.
BPA under-15s B got off to a dreadful start against Salts when they conceded a penalty in the first minute, which was converted.
Luke Taylor found the top corner to equalise with his first of the season and BPA deservedly went into the break level. The second half was a different story, with BPA allowing Salts too much space and time on the ball, which resulted in an 8-1 defeat.
Man of the Match was stand-in keeper James Frazer.

Wibsey Lions under-16s stayed second in the league with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Batley Phoenix, who were level on points with Wibsey prior to kick-off.
Batley took the lead with barely a minute gone and it took a while for Wibsey to get back into the game but after some great work by Josh Thompson on the right wing, Nadeem Khan equalised.
Khan then turned provider as he set up Ryan Archer to put Wibsey 2-1 up at half-time.
Batley came out fighting and equalised just ten minutes into the second half but man of the match Khan set up Archer to make it 3-2 and great defensive work from Kristan Gordon and Cam Green ensured Wibsey hung on.

The Warriors spurned some good chances in the first half, which remained goalless.
It was surely only a matter of time before a goal came, and it finally arrived on 45 minutes when Roberto McFarlane beat two defenders before finishing clinically.

A Kieran McGinley brace saw them go in at the break 2-1 up. The second half saw Albion take a firm grip on the game as McGinley scored three more to take his tally to five.
Keighley scored late on to reduce the arrears but it was too little too late.
