The Bradford & District FA Junior Cup final between Albion Sports and Queensbury Celtic was settled by the slimmest of margins.
It looked as if Sports would win it as they led 3-2 before conceding a goal in the last minute to send the match into extra-time.
The additional 20 minutes produced no further goals and Celtic were ahead 4-3, with a miss apiece in the penalty shoot-out, before Albion's fifth spot-kick hit a post and bounced out.
This pulsating final between two well-matched under-15 sides was a great advert for football, and Queensbury took the early initiative with a set-piece goal, Fraser Parnell's great near-post run enabling him to steer home a well-placed corner kick.
At half-time, Queensbury seemed comfortable but at 1-0 it was a slender advantage.
They nearly doubled their lead from the second-half kick-off with a strong run into the box from Jacob Swallow but a great last-ditch tackle took the ball off his toe as he was about to shoot.
The same player was through again minutes later and this time his shot beat the keeper but also just evaded the far post.
Albion suddenly started to push men forward and they were firmly in the driving seat for a period and had Queensbury reeling with three quick goals.
Suddenly the game looked lost for Queensbury with Albion dominant but, from another set-piece, the ball was superbly floated into the Albion box from a free-kick and Bradley Artist headed the ball into the top corner.
Queensbury were now in the driving seat and pressing hard for an equaliser but clear-cut chances were hard to come by against a determined Albion defence.
As they entered the final minute, it looked like Albion’s game but Queensbury were not to be denied, a strike from Jack Webster squeezing through the Albion keeper's hands to make it 3-3 on the final whistle.
Extra time was end to end and exciting but produced no goals, leading to the spot-kick shoot-out.
The penalty shoot-out was incredibly tense, and with two penalties left the score was 3-3 following a miss from Queensbury and a great save by Connor Ryan to deny Albion.
Webster took the final penalty for Queensbury, scoring with confidence, and Albion's fifth penalty was firmly struck and looked on target but, cruelly for them and favourably for Queensbury, it hit a post and rebounded away.
