Bradford & Bingley director of rugby Martin Whitcombe says consistency is the key ahead of their trip to Penrith on Saturday.

The Bees have won five of their last seven games, leaving them in sixth place in National League Three North.

Whitcombe is happy with what he’s seen, especially in last weekend’s 37-25 win over Burnage, but insists they can do even better.

He said: “In different periods of the game, we played some of the best rugby I’ve seen since I’ve been at the club but we just need to do that for 80 minutes.

“I’ve been pleased with our performances but we just need to get that little bit more consistency into our game.

“We’ve had two high-scoring games recently and we’ve got a tough end to the season in store.”

Penrith, currently third from bottom in the league, are next up for Bees but Whitcombe is wary of the threat their hosts will pose. He said: “Penrith were a bit of a bogey team for us last season and they’ll be a good test for us.”

In Yorkshire Two, Bradford Salem go into their home match with Hullensians on the back of three straight wins. They are actually unbeaten in their last five games but the clash could go either way, with the visitors just three points behind them in the table.

Cleckheaton are eyeing a third successive win in North One East when they travel to Middlesbrough and Baildon head to Northallerton seeking to build on last week’s derby win over Old Modernians. Wibsey travel to high-flying Marist.
