They might not have won yet in their initial campaign in National League Two but there is a growing feeling that a first victory is just around the corner for Bradford & Bingley.

Last Saturday brought another narrow defeat against Halifax - this time by 12-10 at Ovenden Park - and the Bees' head coach Geoff Wappett said: "I'm not a good loser. To borrow that old American sporting phrase Show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser'.

"We weren't happy with the result but we were very pleased with the way that we put our game together and the way we got ourselves field position.

"The way we had the home side under the cosh for that final quarter is an example of how we want to be playing."

Wappett added tellingly: "Don't forget we have been unfortunate with injuries, and also a couple of key players have only just started to bed into the side."

Players that Wappett might have been alluding to are tight-head prop Rob Wilson, scrum half Dave McCormack, No 8 Hese Fakatou and centre Victor Oniyike-Frampton, and the coach said: "I don't think we are a million miles away from playing the game how we want to play it and I think we are not far away from getting our season going."

Tomorrow's visitors are third-placed Stourbridge, who have some former Worcester and Pertemps Bees players. Second row Barry Clark could be in the running for the Bees.
